All Registered for the Banner Conference

Once again this year I hope to attend the Banner of Truth Minister's conference. This is a conference I was encouraged to attend by a fellow pastor while I was training for ministry, and when I first started out pastoring the congregation I currently serve. For years I had other things I needed to use my study week for. Then about 5 years ago I had nothing I needed to use my study week for, and decided to go to the Banner. It was the best decision I have ever made. The preaching there encouraged me, exhorted me, challenged me, and by the grace of God changed me as well. It was just what I needed, and since then I have returned every year, and been as blessed each time.

Gathering with fellow Reformed ministers from various denominations, yet who all seek to serve the same Lord and Saviour, is a great blessing. Each year I get to know more people, and each year I have more people who I look forward to seeing again.

If you are a pastor or an elder who loves the doctrines of grace. Consider attending this conference. This year the speakers include:

* Sinclair Ferguson
* Derek Thomas
* Mark Johnston
* Patrick Harrison
* Ben Short
* Jonathan Watson

I have heard three of these men speak, and they have been greatly used by God to open my eyes further to his glory and grace. If you are considering going you can find more information here.

I know a conference can be a real spiritual refreshment. I remember driving up to a conference in Northern Ontario each year, seeing the same people from all over, and hearing great ministry. Even stopping at the same restaurant for breakfast on the way up was a good memory.

Jim just loves going, and he comes back so... refreshed is a good word. And yes, they do the same stuff each year. Make the same stops and so forth. They have a lot of fun.

We just finished our annual Easter conference, and I really enjoyed it. My wife has asked me if I want to go to Guelph for a men's conference, but I'd need to take some extra time off work and it's a lot of driving. I'm still thinking about it.

Frankly I think it's important for preachers to attend a good conference and hear some excellent ministry. Many men are preaching every week, and while they can listen to some good sermons off the internet, there's nothing like being there!
